New Education Policy 2020: The National Education Policy was framed in 1986 and was modified in 1992. More than three decades have passed since the previous Policy was implemented. During this period some significant changes have taken place in our country, societal economy, and the whole world at large. It is in this context that the education sector needs to change itself towards the demands and expectations of the 21st Century and the needs of the citizen and the country. Quality, innovation and research will be the defining pillars on which India will become a knowledge hub of the world. Clearly, a new Education Policy is need of the hour.

The Indian Government had initiated the task of formulating a New Education Policy through the consultation for a highly inclusive, ensured participatory and completely holistic approach, which is ready to take into account diverse expert opinions, detailed field experiences, dependable empirical research, various stakeholder feedback, as well as lessons learned from best resources.


The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is a the most comprehensive framework for transforming the education system in India. Here are 10 key things to know about NEP-2020:
